SLIPKNOT's COREY TAYLOR Comments On FURY FEST Incident: Audio Available
July 22, 2004SLIPKNOT singer Corey Taylor spoke to Ben Stone of Peoria, Illinois' WWCT Rock 96.5 on Tuesday (July 20) about "being sober on tour, the new album, and how the French suck," according to a posting on Ben's StoneAgeRadio.com web site. Asked to comment on the controversial incident at the Fury Fest in Le Mans, France when a significant portion of the audience began throwing things up on stage during SLIPKNOT's set, Corey said, "Some DJ got it in his head… he started talking smack about us on the radio. Basically, he started calling us American rock stars and all this crap. So the kids decided they were going to retaliate. But the thing that they didn't understand is that they can't kill us. So we did our show, and we got off, and we were like, 'You lost, we won, this is for the kids.' And it ruled. We did our whole set — not one word spoken, really — and took some knocks, but I mean, at the end of the day, are you gonna [give in to the detractors] or are you gonna stand up for what you believe in? We stood up for what we believed in, man."
Audio of Corey's interview with Ben Stone is available for download in two parts: Part#1, Part#2.
